PAISLEY & CAGLE TROUPERS, SAVE THE DAY FOR IOWA FAIRposted: 9/22/2004
Friday, Brad Paisley and Chris Cagle saved the day for an Iowa fair. They were booked to play for 5,000 fans at the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa. Trouble was, by show time, two waves of freak storms had dumped 14 inches of rain on the area. It was so muddy that there was no way trucks and buses could get into the fair to rig in time for the big show. Refunding tickets to the show were about to cost the fair over $100,000.
So, Brad and Chris agreed to put on a show without their bands, stage sets, and all the "bells and whistles" that normally accompany a major country concert these days. Each of them performed for approximately 40 mintues, using just their talent, a guitar, a stool and a microphone.
There was not a single refund request, and the fans rewarded Paisley and Cagle with appreciative standing ovations during their sets.
