Topic: I Feel Much Better

Thank you all so much for your kind messages. My surgery went better than I could have ever expected. It was outpatient surgery and I was home the same day!! They removed a disc from my lower back that was pinching a nerve and making my left leg numb. Compared to the pain that I was in previously, I feel like I could go shopping all day now!!(just joking!)I have a WONDERFUL Doctor! I hate leaving Molly with all the work that has piled up from the FC office being closed...but I did manage to get quite a bit done before I had to throw in the towel. As soon as my doctor gives me the OK, I will be back full force!! Harry took leave from work and is taking VERY good care of me. I am able to sit for a short time and catch up on email, thank goodness! Hugs to all of you! Marian

Marian, so glad to hear you're doing well. If you don't mind my asking, which disc number? I'm gonna need a fusion down the road and am curious on how everything went for you. Welcome back! Jason.

Hey Jason and Sandra! It was between L4 and L5. I hope you can get relief too! Go and get an MRI, and insist on it if you have to. I should have gotten one a lot sooner, but I guess the doctors didn't think I needed one because I did not whine enough...I think I might have gotten relief sooner. Marian

My husband had the same surgery 18 months ago, also outpatient. He felt the same way you do. He was in so much pain that he felt 100% better immediately after the surgery. They kept him off work for 3 months because he did heavy lifting, but he felt good enough to do just about everything after the first week. He even wanted to drive himself to therapy (but of course the Dr. wouldn't let him). So, enjoy your recovery time, but don't overdo. And bless your husband for being there to help you. Happy recovery to both of you. Joyce in Ohio

Marian, glad to hear you had such success & are feeling much better. Thank you Harry for taking good care of Marian, I know it's hard work I did it for my husband a few years ago.

So glad you are better Marian. Again please do exactly as the doctors say. My hubby had L5-S1 fusion six years ago and did not get out of a semi as the doc's told him. Well with the fall earlier this year and the prior problems it now looks as though he'll need surgery on L4-L5. My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. Get lots of rest and don't lift a thing :) Peg

Keep up the great work on your recovery and don't over do it honey, doing too much too fast could set you back...and we want you leaping forward!! Utah hugs are heading your way, we sure do love you! **Lisa**

Glad you are feeling better Marion. I hope one day to meet you and all of the wonderful people I have been talking to here. Please be careful and take care. My aunt had the same surgery and she is always in pain & on pain pills. I hope your recovery goes much better. Don't over do it. *caroline
