Okay, I got a 9-week old black lab puppy today, male, and need a name for him. My dad laughed at me when I said Cagle, so I don't think my parents can keep a straight face with that one.

Now since Ohio State did win, I was thinking Tressel, but when I came to the board for inspiration, I was like, "HEY! Laredo!" So, basically, does anyone have any good puppy names, Cagle or non-Cagle related??

You know, I keep calling him Laredo and he just looks at me with these cute little brown puppy eyes, and I just can't imagine calling him anything else!!!

But what if I name him Laredo, and next week he does something really goofy, like I named my cat P.K. for pretty kitty, cause she's pretty :) and like, two days after the tag was made I realized I should've named her Ms. Piggy cause she's a little pig, my bottomless pit!!

I should just name him Laredo, I think half of us on here have pets named Laredo!! (Any kids??)

Okay, thank you, you guys!! I can't wait to get my pics of him developed, he's such a cutie!!

Yeah, for Cagle names I've been throwing a few around all day-Cagle, Laredo and Whiskey, and whenever he chases the cat I always seem to yell Laredo. But, I like the sound of Cagle, two syllables vs. three syllables.

Women; we can never make up our minds!!

I like the name Whiskey. I work as a vet assistant at a local animal shelter and we currently have an Australian Cattle Dog named Whiskey. He loves his name .. I think its kinda cool too! All the people that come and look at him dont really like it, but it really suits him .. a little strong minded and yet soothing!! *lol*

Make sure you feel comfortable running through your neighborhood calling the name. My new neighbors have a dog and her name is "girl dog". She got out the other night and all I heard was my neighbor yelling "girl dog! come here girl dog!" :-)

Yeah, my mom wants to name him "Igo" so we can run around yelling "here, Igo!"

I think I'm sticking with Laredo, unless I find something I can't pass up (before I make the tag and get the license)

Thanks you guys!!!!

I have a kitten I named Cagle, and it really fits him. Except everyone calls him "Caglehead" and NONE of them realize what they're saying. *LOL* I still crack up when I hear it. Or sometimes my mom will be like "you won't believe what Chris Cagle did..." And I'm just like "HUH?" The best one was "I woke up this morning and dang it Chris Cagle was sleeping at the top of my pillow" I was ROFL! *LOL* Just thought I'd share one of the many adventures of Cagle Kitty. ~Christina~

Christina-I think I would flip if someone walked in and said something about Chris Cagle being there, or just did something silly!! Of course, it would take that halfsecond for the blondeness to go away and for me to realize it was the pet, not him!! :(

He's sleeping, maybe I should slip some Cagle into the cd player and ok, nevermind. But I am gonna go play some Chris!!

I know that this is kinda late, but i couldn't find the topic anyway, I was thinking about the name for the puppy and since you have a cat that you call pk I thought CC would be a neat name short for chris cagle. Just a thought. the puppy is probley used to the name you gave it already. take care cheryle

Thank you everyone for suggestions!! I decided to stick with Laredo!! He's such a sweetie too, just like Chris!! Now I just need to pick his whateveritscalled name for his AKC registration. Man, I hope I don't have a ton of kids, it'll take me forever to name them!!!

Most people when they do the AKC they name the pup from where they got the dog or cat. From the kennel you got him or his parents name. just a thought. good luck and let me know what you decide. cheryle

I dont want to sound rude or anything, but there really isnt a point in sending AKC papers in to register your puppy. I know, everyone thinks AKC is the end all of dog registrations .. But trust me, it isnt. The only thing it will do for the dog in the long run is trace the lineage of the dog, but if you have the certificate of purchase from the breeder, you should have that on file anyway. You see, AKC doesnt actually check the dog out and see if it conforms to breed standard before registering the puppy. So in essence I could register an Irish Wolfhound as a Miniature Chihuahua and no one would know the difference at AKC. I know I sound like Im blowing smoke, but I have been working in the domestic animal field for well over 7 years now and I dont want to see anyone wasting money on something so pointless as AKC registration. Besides, if push comes to shove, those papers wont save the dog's life should he ever get hit by a car (god forbid) or if you would have to give him up for any reason. Trust me .. AKC isnt worth the registration fee (unless you think he is of excellent show quality, then maybe you should get a few breed experts to check him out)
