Hey y'all. I need some help, advice, whatever you can give me. I was recently put in "charge" of our fundraising committee at work (I work at the local Wal-Mart)for Children's Miracle Network/ Riley's Children's Hospital and I need some ideas or input on some fun things I could do to raise money for those kids! I was thinking of putting together a benefit concert in the spring, but I've never done anything like that. Here's what I was thinking. Maybe get one or two "newbies" from Nashville....and then some local talent. If possible, maybe get someone "big" to come and do a few songs. Nothing major, just enough to get people to dig deep and raise money for those precious lil people at Riley's. I thought maybe we could raffle off some autographed cd's and t-shirts maybe....have the show in the parking lot and ask for donations for the show...or pre-sell tickets for 10 or 15 bucks for the best spots up front (have it roped off). So here's the problem....I have NO IDEA who I should contact, what I'll need to provide or how to go about this! I've already planned on contacting the local radio and tv stations...they do free advertising for this kind of stuff..and the local newspapers. This is all VERY new to me, but its SOOOO important! If y'all have any information that would be helpful to me, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. Also, if you have any other ideas that I could incorporate w/ this or different ideas for fundraising all together would be great. We are having a meeting on Wednesday and I want to blow them away w/ great ideas and something outlined on this concert. I'm sooooooo excited about this new responsibility. It's all about the kids!!!! They're lil bits of heaven, and they need the money so much for the care they receive at Riley's. Thanks in advance for all the GREAT help y'all are gonna have for me. I know y'all are just overflowin w/ ideas and info for this Caglebug!!! lol. :) :) :) ~~Tina

The only help I can offer is to suggest talking to your local radio station - they may be able to help with who to contact as far as talent, permits etc. Heck they may even help with advertising

Tina, don't know how much help this will be but I'm brainstormin here.

When you get up with the radio stations, ask them who you would contact for the concerts. They may be able to give you ideas on how to get up with the right people for the artists. Or they may want to help sponsor, but let them bring that up, or ask them AFTER you get the info you really need. I think you need to get up with the management company for the artists, but I could be wrong.

Another place to try is the local clubs and ask them how they get the bands in there. They may want to help you contact them, and they may want to try and get the big acts in their club the night of or day after your event. It sounds like it would be a great thing to do to raise money.

For TFT they have an auction to raise money to buy extra toys on top of the toys people bring in. They had Chris sign a bunch of camping gear, the stuff they used while on top of the Wal-Mart. They also had some Dale Earnhart stuff they sold, and some other things that were signed by other artists. The radio station did this with an on-air phone auction. People called in and bid while they played songs and in between they told how long the auction for that item would last and what the high bid was at that time. Something to consider if you can do this with a radio station.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. You're gonna be BUSY!!!

Hey, I sell some merchandise out of a catalog that is really nice, I could see if I could sell it to you at wholesale price so you can auction it off. It is some beautiful stuff, nic-nacs, vases, a little bit of everything. Just let me know and I will get you out one of my catalogs. Audra
